1891: First German Baptist Church
Good Street Location
The first location at Good and Florence Street

From 1893 to 1914, our church met for worship at its Good Street location, near downtown. In the early days this small congregation shared its pastors with other small German congregations in Denton.

In 1903 new zeal came to the church in the person of Pastor Fred Jerger. He tapped a previously overlooked resource, the women of the church. In 1904 a ladies Aid Society was founded and according to the records from that time, "seemingly things began to happen."

On November 7, 1904, the congregation decided to enlarge their present facility and build a separate parsonage. On December 19, 1907, Rev. J. E. Erhorn began his pastorate. He revived the church's mission work at Irving Station and expanded the deacon board to three. In 1911, the church which had been subsidized to that point by the Texas Conference of German Baptists became self-supporting. In February of 1913, the church building on Good Street was put up for sale for the sum of $10,000. The new church location was Carroll Avenue, between Live Oak and Swiss, three blocks from Dallas Theological Seminary.
